101 Basic Solutions with WorkView
In this course we will explore the fundamentals of WorkView. We begin the course with easy-to-follow labs designed to help you understand the parts of a WorkView Solution and learn the configuration of each one of those parts. In the last lab we will build a Workflow Solution that routes a WorkView Object. This class is ideal for someone who wants to obtain a solid fundamental knowledge of WorkView.

102 Preparing for Installer Recertification
This session will give attendees space to complete labs that are directly related to the OnBase Installer Recertification exam. There will be an OnBase Trainer available for questions during this self-directed workshop. This class does not count towards certification and the exam will not be delivered during this session. This session will use the latest version of OnBase.

You must be an OnBase Certified Installer in order to attend this session.

103 Building Your First Workflow and Expanding It
Are you a System or Workflow Administrator tasked with building or maintaining Workflow solutions? If so, this course is for you. We’ll introduce you to OnBase Studio and create a basic Life Cycle; learning essential Workflow functions such as ad-hoc tasks, rules, actions, timers, and basic security. In this hands-on session we’ll gain understanding into the Workflow interface, interactions and possibilities. Then we’ll take the Life Cycle to the next level. Demonstrating how we can make our solution more efficient and flexible by designing essential work-balancing among multiple users, configuring administration-level security, and available methods to provide related items to your users so they can make more informed decisions.

111 Document Retention and GRasS New
Document Retention automates the retention and destruction of qualified documents from OnBase. In this session you will learn about the two different retention types, how to exclude documents from being destroyed, as well as how to configure the purging processors. In addition, this course will introduce Governance Rules as a Service (GRaaS). GRaaS is a new Hyland offering that combines a fully researched, web-accessible retention schedule—powered by the Iron Mountain® Policy Center solution—with robust automation to apply those same retention rules directly to OnBase documents, providing a complete end-to-end retention solution.

112 Viewing OnBase Documents from Your External Application
If you need a quick way to display OnBase documents from your custom applications, you have a variety of choices. Many of these, called the “POP integrations”, can be used easily with little or no code development! If you use the Web Server, the Unity Client, or Application Enabler, you already have access to this powerful, easy to use functionality. Even experienced programmers often find that the POP integrations are the quickest and most effective way to integrate with their custom applications. However, developers have additional options such as API calls and Unity Client Automation. Because of the variety of options, this course is appropriate for all levels of OnBase knowledge. It both introduces the topics and explains some of the advanced options. Where appropriate, it will also show ways to program against the functionality. Programming demonstrations are kept brief so as to make the class accessible to non-developers and developers alike.

113 WorkView User Interface and Experience Design
One of the most visible parts of your WorkView solution is the User Interface. In this course participants will learn of general interface design best practices including examples of good versus bad design. Next, participants will learn how to leverage Cascading Stylesheets to change the rules of how Objects are displayed. Finally, the topic of Client Side JavaScript will be explored. This will include sample solutions commonly needed in most implementations.

115 Moving Up: Resources, Tools, and Best Practices for Upgrading OnBase
For many organizations, upgrading OnBase can be tricky task – but it doesn’t need to be! Join our experts as they share best practices and point you to the resources and tools that OnBase professionals in Hyland’s Global Services, Technical Support & Quality Assurance departments have developed over the years to ensure a smooth and successful upgrade process. Participate in hands-on activities, discuss planning and testing strategies, compare & contrast a traditional upgrade to an incremental parallel upgrade and get answers to your real-world questions and concerns from Hyland’s technical experts.

116 Docker: Looking at the Future of Deployment Technologies
Docker is a hot topic in the software engineering space these days. It allows for software to be packaged, deployed, and scaled more simply than ever before. We have a keen interest in making containers an available and preferred deployment option for all of your OnBase needs over the next few years. This course is intended to spread awareness and knowledge about the future of containers and the direction OnBase is headed. It will be agnostic to OnBase and is intended to be a general purpose Docker course.

161 Comprehensive Solution Exploration and Modification New
Join us as we dive into an existing solution fully configured and ready to review and modify. Follow the Unity Form as it creates WorkView objects using Workflow rules, actions, properties and timers. Modify the Document Composition template to include WorkView attributes and then have Workflow create the documents directly for you. Follow the solution through completion and then view and modify the Reporting Dashboard to show the real time health of Park County’s Soil Samples OnBase Solution.
162 Unity API Self-Paced Workshop
This course allows you to complete self-paced labs, supported by Hyland technical staff. The labs will focus on the most common Unity API features, new Unity API features, and the different locations through the client where the Unity API can be leveraged. The labs are the perfect way for a developer familiar with the Unity API to try out new features and all of the new hooks in the Unity Client where a script can execute from.

163 Administration in The Hyland Cloud New
As many organizations look to the Hyland Cloud for their solutions versus on premise, administration of it will differ in some ways. Whether you’ve recently migrated to the Hyland Cloud or are rolling your new hosted solutions, you may have questions like “what administration tasks are the same as when it was on premise?”, “What can or can’t I do?”, “What should I be doing?”, “Are there new tools to administer and grow the solution?”. This course will outline the Cloud Architecture, things you can and should do yourself as well as when you should reach out to Hyland. Also look forward to suggested tasks and duties to perform on a daily, weekly and monthly basis, troubleshooting and maintenance tips, and how to plan for expansion.
164 Empowering Process Owners: Designing WorkView Solutions for Dynamic Control
Do you receive many requests to update and change your WorkView solutions? Frequent changes to business rules by IT Administrators can be very costly in terms of resources and time. In this course participants will explore solutions where administration for business process owners can be built directly into the WorkView application. By moving this configuration into the client interface, business process owners will gain greater control over maintaining and updating business rules. This creative approach to building WorkView solutions will further evolve what is possible in your organization.

165 Problems Solved! Support Issues and the Resolutions You'll Love, an Open Forum
Support partners with many organizations each year to investigate, identify, and resolve OnBase issues. Join us for a discussion of the most intriguing, relevant, and enlightening support issues we’ve seen over the past year. You can also bring your challenging OnBase support issues and discuss with the experts on how to find resolution. You’ll put on your sleuthing caps as we share facts and see if you can determine the answer to the more interesting support requests we encountered. Match your OnBase experience against others as we explore how to respond to the common question “What’s wrong with my system?”

167 Process Analysis: Critical Tools for Building a Foundation
Learn the tools to more effectively analyze a process and identify improvement opportunities. Participants will learn about flow, variation, cycle time, lead time, defects; and the tools used to understand where to start. “Improve this process” can mean a lot of things. Participants will learn where to begin and how it creates a foundation for automation.

201 Installer Recertification
Installer Recertification is designed to qualify current OnBase Certified Installers (OCI) for an additional two years. This session is required to maintain an individual's OCI status. During this session, individuals will take the 6-hour exam to recertify.

If an individual wishes to review the topics covered prior to the exam, they should plan to attend the “001 Preparing for Installer Recertification” course. If an individual has been expired on their OCI certification for 6 or more months, they should attend a regularly scheduled Installation Certification course instead.

202 Intermediate Solutions with WorkView
Let’s take your WorkView skills to the next level. Join us in this course as we learn how to map Attribute data to OnBase work item data (Folders, Forms, Uploads, Documents) using keyword type maps and associations to further expand the power of WorkView. We will leverage WorkView Triggers to perform calculations and update attributes. We will also explore the relationship between WorkView and Workflow in hands-on labs. Throughout the day you will experience some of the latest enhancements in action. Together we will find ways to improve your WorkView solutions!.

211 Accidental DBA - Performance, Maintenance, and Caring for a Database
The DBA (Database Administrator) for many customers is not a DBA by training, but by accident. The goal of this session is to fill in the gaps for the Accidental DBA (sometimes referred to as an Involuntary DBA) and round out that person's knowledge of what is needed to successfully administer an OnBase database. Any individual that is responsible for the administration of an OnBase database, or wants to take back recommendations for the OnBase database to their DBA, should attend this class. The following topics will be covered in this technical session: -Instance and database configuration and settings (specific to OnBase) -Maintenance recommendations and strategies Capturing baselines and monitoring performance -Troubleshooting performance issues Attendees should be familiar with their current (or proposed) OnBase database configuration, and should be prepared to participate in discussions related to configuration and maintenance.

212 Techniques and Strategies for Improving the User Experience of your Content Services Solutions
User Experience is a critical component to adoption and success of any content services solution built within OnBase. Each organization is going to build their own customized solutions to meet the needs of the business, but how can those solutions be optimized and tailored to ensure the optimal user experience? In this course, we will walk through:

• Common ways to optimize the user experience

• Usability testing techniques for new solutions

213 Email Driven Workflow Solutions
Historically, Workflow designers have considered email as an output of Workflow to inspire user action and to inform individuals that there is work to be accomplished. With recent changes in OnBase surrounding Workflow and email, there is a far wider range of capabilities accessible by leveraging email and Workflow together. This course will explore how to effectively route email based on non-traditional information (beyond the from/to/subject line), how to craft email notifications for future ingestion, and how to ultimately allow users to control Workflow solutions through simple email messaging. This course will cover elements of Mailbox Importer, Outlook Integration, Distribution Services, Workflow, and WorkView. Come to see how email looks in Workflow, but stay to learn how a single letter can drive Workflow approval.

214 OnBase Portal Solutions: External Access to OnBase
Organizations often need to provide access beyond their internal employees and that's where Portal Solutions come in. This course will explore the various options available to provide access to others who are not in your employee base. We will then focus on a recent enhancement to OnBase - The External Access Client. You'll learn how to create a branded and customized user experience that you can leverage inside and outside your organization that is more focused and streamlined than a traditional client. We'll cover use cases and opportunities to employ this extended capability.

215 Building Test Systems - Getting Started
It is considered a best practice to have more than one OnBase Environment. Test, Development, and Disaster Recovery are common examples. Yet, the task of actually building out a test environment can appear to be very challenging. This hands-on technical course will walk System Admins and Installers through the most common steps to build out secondary environments from your current system. Special attention will be devoted to best practices and when to get your first line of support involved.

216 Making the API and Workflow Work Better Together
This session is aimed at developers who have completed the OnBase API course, and are now looking for practical advice on how to use it. Specifically, this will discuss best practices and common design considerations when using the Unity Automation API to extend a Workflow solution. This will include coding considerations such as error handling and tricks with the built-in development environment. The course also emphasizes designing the solution to work with Workflow and OnBase functionality. If you are adding functionality to one or more extensive life cycles (possibly maintained by someone other than you), how do you divide up responsibilities between the Workflow and your custom code? How will you structure the communication between these two systems? If there are errors, will they be understandable by an administrator who doesn't know how to program? These questions will be addressed through hands-on labs. Please note that this is an advanced session and it will be assumed that all students are already familiar with the Unity API. Wondering how to easily *create* documents, and not just manage them?  In this introductory course, we’ll review the basics of creating customer communications with Content Composer.  Topics include producing, sending, tracking and archiving documents, directly from your line-of-business or ECM system.  We’ll distribute documents using modern tools like SMS text and ShareBase file sync and share, and archive them into OnBase.

262 Workflow Latest Enhancements
Workflow has grown substantially over the years. These changes modify not only Workflow triggers, but introduce new functionality for handling keywords, designing and migrating solutions, and logging functionality. This course will cover not only the changes, but how to appropriately add them to new and existing solutions.

263 Migrating from Premise to The Hyland Cloud New
We couldn't get license rights to the famous Led Zeppelin song, but join us anyways as we talk through best practices, approaches and techniques to migrating your solutions to the cloud. Hosted by The Hyland Cloud professionals, this session will help you prioritize, justify and plan your migration to Hyland's World Wide Cloud Services.

264 WorkView Solution Discovery Strategies and Practices
WorkView solutions are a powerful addition to your ECM strategy. However, as with any solution development, there are questions that need to be answered before you start crafting your application. 266 Introduction to REST OnBase Web Services
In today's fast paced technology landscape, it has become increasing important for applications to quickly and easily inter-operate with each other. SOAP and REST services exist to make this communication quick, simple, standard, and accessible. They allow IT staff to work in their language of greatest comfort and reduce the need to understand the complexities of an application's lower level APIs. Come work hands on with OnBase's capabilities to publish REST and SOAP endpoints. Participates will learn how to publish OnBase Web Services in minutes directly from OnBase Studio via simple wizard interfaces. 313 Introduction to Capture Process Designer
Capture Process Designer allows you to create custom scan queues with flexible routing logic and processes in the order you would like. This new functionality addresses many of the limitations to Legacy Scan Queues and enhances overall the processing of documents through a scan queue. This course will explain how these limitations are addressed using Capture Process Designer and also the fundamentals of Capture Process Designer and Custom Scan Queues. After taking this course you should have a base level knowledge of custom scan queues and how to begin using them within your OnBase Solutions.

The historical view of change management has been to plan better and power through resistance. 362 Document Packaging
Join us to learn how the Document Packages module enable organizations to easily merge a group of multiple documents into a single document that can then be stored in OnBase. The class starts with a discussion about the Product Capabilities and goes into the configuration of both, Template and non-Template Document packages. The hands on labs cover both the End User and Administration scenarios.

363 Administrator's Handbook
What are those things that every administrator needs to know about successfully owning and growing your solution? What are those areas of functionality you never knew about or forgot existed that can help make your day-to-day administration easier, simpler, and clearer. What do you need to pay attention to in order to ensure your solution stays up to date and meets user needs? This session will address these questions and more as we explore best practices and tips for OnBase administrators. We’ll look at common misconceptions that create barriers to user adoption, and some of the techniques you can deploy to ensure the system runs smoothly for those times you are away from the office at, let’s say, a training conference. You’ve created a basic Unity Form, now what? Take your Unity Forms to the next level by adding robust functionality available right in the Forms Designer. In Intermediate Unity Forms, we’ll explore the following features: determine form totals through Calculated Fields; add dynamic functionality to your forms with Custom Actions; use Signatures to verify form values; use the Drawing Control to capture graphical information on your forms; customize themes to fit your organization’s brand; and more! Prior to attending this session, participants are expected to have completed the Unity Forms self-paced lab or have previous experience creating OnBase Unity Forms.

365 New Storage Technologies with OnBase Foundation New
Storage of OnBase documents has historically been confined to servers owned by your organization. With the release of OnBase Foundation, additional flexibility has been added to empower organizations to take advantage of cloud-based storage such as S3. In this class we will explore those capabilities as well as new functionality to allow documents that meet certain criteria to be moved from one Disk Group to another with Disk Group Migration.

367 Workflow Timers and the Unity Scheduler
Workflow Timers are a powerful mechanism for automatically executing workflow tasks. In this course we will show how to use them effectively within your Workflow Life Cycles. We’ll discuss best practices for configuring and executing Workflow timer tasks. We’ll introduce the Unity Scheduler, which is the preferred product for scheduling and running Workflow timer tasks. We’ll compare the Workflow Timer Service with the Unity Scheduler and show how to migrate timer tasks from the former to the latter.

464 Workflow Timers and the Unity Scheduler
Workflow Timers are a powerful mechanism for automatically executing workflow tasks. In this course we will show how to use them effectively within your Workflow Life Cycles. We’ll discuss best practices for configuring and executing Workflow timer tasks. We’ll introduce the Unity Scheduler, which is the preferred product for scheduling and running Workflow timer tasks. We’ll compare the Workflow Timer Service with the Unity Scheduler and show how to migrate timer tasks from the former to the latter.

465 WorkView User Interface and Experience Design
One of the most visible parts of your WorkView solution is the User Interface. In this course participants will learn of general interface design best practices including examples of good versus bad design. Next, participants will learn how to leverage Cascading Stylesheets to change the rules of how Objects are displayed. Finally, the topic of Client Side JavaScript will be explored. 469 Process Analysis: Project Management Approaches
Before beginning an OnBase project it’s important to select a project methodology which fits your organization, its culture, comfort, staffing, and commitments. This session will explore the differences between an Agile, Waterfall, and Hybrid approach. We will also discuss Lean Six Sigma DMAIC methodology.  We'll discuss when one approach is preferred to another, including the factors that help you make that decision.  We'll then walk through specific examples, look at the OnBase design approaches based on the method, and highlight tools that will help support the identified method.

501 Workflow XML Messaging - Creating Solutions using the Hyland Integration Hub New
The Workflow XML Messaging product enables integration processes to be handled directly within OnBase by adding XML message support to Workflow. We simplify the integration with systems that can output XML, JSON, EDI, HL7, etc, through the use of easily configured "On-ramps" and "Off-ramps". This allows for the consumption of messages, sending messages out of OnBase, and also managing responses. This all day class will begin by introducing you to the tools that will allow you to build your own solutions to integrate OnBase with third party applications and Line of Business systems. We will then expand your understanding of the Workflow Xml Messaging product, as we build different types of solutions to integrate OnBase with external applications using Workflow logic.

Organizations often need to provide access beyond their internal employees and that's where Portal Solutions come in. We will then focus on a recent enhancement to OnBase - The External Access Client.
