9:00 AM - 12:30 PM
111 Document Retention and GRaaS New
Document Retention automates the retention and destruction of qualified documents from OnBase. In this session you will learn about the two different retention types, how to exclude documents from being destroyed, as well as how to configure the purging processors. In addition, this course will introduce Governance Rules as a Service (GRaaS). GRaaS is a new Hyland offering that combines a fully researched, web-accessible retention schedule—powered by the Iron Mountain® Policy Center solution—with robust automation to apply those same retention rules directly to OnBase documents, providing a complete end-to-end retention solution.

112 Email Driven Workflow Solutions
Historically, Workflow designers have considered email as an output of Workflow to inspire user action and to inform individuals that there is work to be accomplished. With recent changes in OnBase surrounding Workflow and email, there is a far wider range of capabilities accessible by leveraging email and Workflow together. This course will explore how to effectively route email based on non-traditional information (beyond the from/to/subject line), how to craft email notifications for future ingestion, and how to ultimately allow users to control Workflow solutions through simple email messaging. This course will cover elements of Mailbox Importer, Outlook Integration, Distribution Services, Workflow, and WorkView. Come to see how email looks in Workflow, but stay to learn how a single letter can drive Workflow approval.

116 Viewing OnBase Documents from Your External Application
If you need a quick way to display OnBase documents from your custom applications, you have a variety of choices. Many of these, called the “POP integrations”, can be used easily with little or no code development! If you use the Web Server, the Unity Client, or Application Enabler, you already have access to this powerful, easy to use functionality. Even experienced programmers often find that the POP integrations are the quickest and most effective way to integrate with their custom applications. However, developers have additional options such as API calls and Unity Client Automation. Because of the variety of options, this course is appropriate for all levels of OnBase knowledge. It both introduces the topics and explains some of the advanced options. Where appropriate, it will also show ways to program against the functionality. Programming demonstrations are kept brief so as to make the class accessible to non-developers and developers alike.

This session is aimed at developers who have completed the OnBase API course, and are now looking for practical advice on how to use it. Specifically, this will discuss best practices and common design considerations when using the Unity Automation API to extend a Workflow solution. This will include coding considerations such as error handling and tricks with the built-in development environment. The course also emphasizes designing the solution to work with Workflow and OnBase functionality. If you are adding functionality to one or more extensive life cycles (possibly maintained by someone other than you), how do you divide up responsibilities between the Workflow and your custom code? How will you structure the communication between these two systems? If there are errors, will they be understandable by an administrator who doesn't know how to program? These questions will be addressed through hands-on labs. Please note that this is an advanced session and it will be assumed that all students are already familiar with the Unity API. Formerly known as Unity Workflow API Scripting Best Practices
